I am a mixed-media artist working with photography and hand stitching. I have practiced sewing and embroidery since childhood and returned to photography in recent years, after first exploring the medium in the early 2000s. My work is rooted in an appreciation for natural beauty, often focusing on quiet details and subtle moments that might otherwise go unnoticed, both in nature and in the environments around us.
By combining photography with hand embroidery, I bring texture into the image, merging what is seen with what can be felt. Through the act of stitching, I slow my process and develop a closer connection to the subject, spending time with each image in a more deliberate, physical way. Through this process, I invite others to slow down and look closer to find beauty in the details that are often overlooked.
I was recently selected as an exhibiting artist in the Appalachian Echoes exhibition at NoCo Arts in Newton, NC and am a member of the Foothills Photography Club. I was raised in Honolulu, Hawaii, and now live in North Carolina.
